A Honduran man has been handed down a 27-month prison sentence for illegal reentry into the United States, marking his fifth violation of U.S. immigration laws. The individual, identified as Marvin Wilton Max Ayala, 36, will also face a subsequent three-year period of supervised release, a federal court in Florida ordered.
According to a report from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, Max Ayala pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Becerra. This latest arrest came after Max Ayala was found in possession of cocaine on April 1. In addition to his unlawful entries, Max Ayala has previously been convicted on other criminal offenses, including an attempted forgery offense in Texas in 2021.
Max Ayala's history with immigration authorities includes removals dating back over a decade, with deportations on November 21, 2012; April 6, 2015; May 4, 2020; and August 5, 2021. Enforcement of immigration laws and subsequent investigations was led by ICE-ERO, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement Removal Operations, specifically their Prosecutions Unit in Miami. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Roca Shaw.
Once his federal prison term is completed, plans for Max Ayala's removal from the United States are already in place. Such cases highlight the ongoing challenges faced by both immigrants and law enforcement within the context of the U.S. immigration policy. Details of the case are accessible on the website of the District Court for the Southern District of Florida or via the PACER system, under case number 25-cr-20192.
