The initiative includes increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints throughout this month to deter and detect drunk driving. The campaign enforces a zero-tolerance policy to reduce incidents of intoxicated driving in Indiana.
According to a post on the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department News Facebook page, the residents are advised to plan ahead, use a sober driver, or call a taxi or rideshare service. The department emphasizes that driving while intoxicated is illegal and dangerous.
IMPD is calling for public cooperation to support the campaign during September, encouraging residents to make safe transportation choices and avoid impaired driving.
