The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has launched a death investigation following the discovery of a body in a pond near Castleton. According to WRTV, the body was found earlier today near the corner of 82nd Street and Craig Avenue, by a senior living apartment complex.
Assistance was provided by the Indianapolis Fire Department who helped with the recovery process from the water. Details surrounding the death are scarce, as police have yet to release much information. The only confirmation from IMPD at the moment is the initiation of a death investigation, leaving the community with questions amidst a lack of disclosed circumstances.
Details emerged from a separate report by WISH-TV, stating that around 7:45 a.m., North District officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a required dive rescue near a commercial area on the city’s northeast side. Upon arrival, the responding officers recovered the body from the retention pond located near the intersection.
With the investigation in its early phases, the IMPD has held back from providing additional details or speculation around the incident. "At this time, IMPD said this will be a death investigation," reported WTHR.
