Opportunities knock for students and recent grads in the Hoosier state. The Indiana Senate Republican Caucus is throwing its doors open, inviting a new batch of minds to the fold with its paid spring-semester internships for 2026. The internships will be dished out across several offices, from communications to policy, State Sen. Daryl Schmitt (R-Jasper) announced.
These opportunities aren't exclusive to any particular discipline; majors of all stripes are welcome. However, the caucus is clear on one thing – applicants need to have at least sophomore status in college to be in the mix. The net casts wider still, with an invitation to recent college graduates, alongside graduate and law school students. Interns are set to pocket a $900 biweekly stipend, and that's not all. There's talk of perks like scholarship chances, academic credit, professional development, and networking, which in today's job market can be as solid as gold.
The scene of the action? Downtown Indianapolis, right at the Statehouse, where these full-time internships will run from a mandatory orientation in the depths of winter to the close of the legislative session in March 2026. "I enjoyed working with Indiana Senate interns during my first legislative session earlier this year," Schmitt said in a statement. "Our internship program offers a great experience for young professionals to learn skills they will use throughout their careers, and I encourage eligible students to apply for one of these positions," according to the Indiana Senate Republicans' announcement.
