State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) received a perfect score from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in its 41st annual Legislator Scorecard for the 2025 legislative session. Barrett scored 100 percent for votes supporting legislation focused on economic growth and job creation in Indiana, as per the Indiana House Republicans release.
The Indiana Chamber’s scorecard evaluates lawmakers on six areas: child care, economic development, education, energy, health care, and public finance/taxation. The scorecard is part of the Chamber’s Indiana Prosperity 2035 strategic vision. Barrett stated that the recognition outlines progress made and identifies issues still to be addressed.
Key House Republican priority bills influencing Barrett’s score included House Enrolled Act 1003 (reducing health care costs), House Enrolled Act 1002 (reducing education regulations), and House Enrolled Act 1007 (expanding the state’s energy capacity). In taxation, Senate Enrolled Act 1 introduced property tax relief and reform.
Indiana has also received national recognition for its business environment. Chief Executive Magazine ranked the state first in the Midwest and sixth nationwide in its “Best & Worst States for Business” survey. Forbes ranked Indiana second on its list of “Best States to Start a Business,” as per the same release.
