In a recent turn of events relating to a fatal shooting in Indianapolis last month, IMPD homicide detectives apprehended 28-year-old Parris Maul on Monday, as per a social media update by IMPD News. Maul is the prime suspect in the killing of 22-year-old Larenzo Murray, which took place on the 5400 block of W. 81st Street on the night of August 19.
According to the IMPD News report, Northwest District officers of IMPD responded to a distress call about a person shot, finding Murray with injuries indicative of a gunfire attack, following the incident, Murray was transported to a local hospital where his death was later confirmed; the detectives managed to piece together evidence, scour for video, and conduct witness interviews promptly after the crime. Their investigation steered them towards Maul, upon which they collaborated with the Marion County Prosecutors' Office, securing an arrest warrant by last Friday, said IMPD.
IMPD's Violent Crimes Unit played a significant role in locating Maul, culminating in his arrest earlier this week at Cooper Square Court. However, it should be underscored that an arrest does not equate to a conviction, and Maul is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise as the legal process unfolds.
Maul's arrest marks a significant development in case number IP250072864, though details regarding motive or circumstances leading up to the altercation remain unclear at this time.
