An 18-year-old male was arrested on a murder warrant after a traffic stop by Downtown District officers of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) News Facebook post, the stop occurred early yesterday morning just before 5:00 a.m. when an officer observed a car committing traffic violations.
One of the backseat passengers had an active warrant for charges related to the October 2024 murder of 26-year-old Jose Hernandez, believed to be linked to a robbery. IMPD confirmed the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the other individuals in the car were released.
The arrest warrant followed an investigation by IMPD homicide detectives, who identified two suspects in the Hernandez case. The first, 33-year-old Brittany Norton, was arrested on January 3. Evidence collected at the scene and subsequent investigations pointed to both suspects.
The second suspect, who was a minor at the time of the incident, is now in custody along with Norton, and both are awaiting trial. IMPD stated that arrests and charges are accusations, and individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty. This case is recorded under number IP240096962.
