A Lauderhill Police Department employee named Eunique Gibbons has been arrested on grand theft charges, accused of engaging in a timecard fraud scheme that allowed her to receive nearly $6,000 for work hours she did not complete. Gibbons, who worked as a property and evidence coordinator, turned herself in at the Broward Main Jail yesterday and now faces one count of grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000, according to Local 10.
An extensive investigation by LPD revealed that Gibbons and her supervisor had been allegedly manipulating her timekeeping records to indicate she had been at work when in fact she had not; keycard data, vehicle GPS information, and license plate reader evidence suggest a coordinated effort between Gibbons and the supervisor to defraud the department, Local 10 reported. GPS and keycard entries showed there were multiple instances, spanning from January to August 2024, where Gibbons was clocked in without being present on the premises, sometimes showing up hours later and even exiting in the middle of her supposed shift, all while the system continued to register her as working.
The post from Mugshots Broward reveals that Gibbons was booked under arrest number 802500601. Alongside her mugshot, the post details her being arrested by Main Jail and includes her physical description: 29 years old, 5 feet 3 inches in height, weighing 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Details of the alleged scheme include Gibbons arriving at work, checking in, and then reportedly spending time in the women's locker room before either leaving the premises or retreating to her vehicle, and on certain days, leaving for significant parts of her shift but remaining clocked in, this behavior was detailed by the police but did not always result in her absence being counted if it was less than an hour, according to Local 10's reporting. While initial charges listed against Gibbons included grand theft, organized fraud, and official misconduct, she is currently only facing the grand theft charge, with her trial status pending.
All accused individuals have their day in court to respond to charges and are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Gibbons's bond was set at $2,500 as of the last update.
