
A student from Geist Montessori Academy in McCordsville was detained by local police following allegations of making threats at the school, the McCordsville Police Department reported a swift response arriving at the school around 3:15 p.m. to manage the situation after a report came in about a juvenile potentially posing a security concern, according to information provided by FOX59.
While the student remains under investigation as the MPD carries out its due diligence, the department reassured the community by saying there is no ongoing threat and also that in the coming days, as a precautionary measure, an uptick in police activity around Geist Montessori Academy will be seen, this comes from a statement released on the McCordsville Police Department's Facebook page, which was subsequently cited by WTHR.
The situation did not escalate further due to the school's and law enforcement's immediate action, details about the alleged threats and the student's identity have not been disclosed yet in light of the legal processes and privacy; however, the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office is set to receive a full report for review from law enforcement authorities, which implies that the incident is treated with the seriousness it warrants, as mentioned in reports from WIBC.
