A fire erupted in Opa-locka’s junkyard last Saturday night, engulfing vehicles in flames and bringing a response from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units. According to a report by WSVN, firefighters were called to the 12800 block of Alexandria Drive around 10:20 p.m. and faced the task of containing the fire which scorched cars and caused significant property damage.

Videos taken on cellphones by bystanders showed the intensity of the blaze as more than forty fire response units arrived at the location which is situated near Northwest 127th Street and Northwest 34th Avenue. NBC Miami reported that firefighters climbed ladders, aiming their hoses from above in an attempt to douse the flames, which required additional resources such as foam trucks and water tenders to fully extinguish.

While the fire raged, sending plumes of thick smoke into the night sky, no injuries were fortunately reported. Both the nearby community and the first responders remained safe throughout the ordeal. The causes behind the fire at the junkyard are currently being investigated by authorities.
