Early this morning, the Richmond Police Department responded to a shooting incident near the parking lot of Richmond Flats Apartments on Cart Road. An individual was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was quickly transported to Reid Health and subsequently airlifted to a facility providing higher-level care, as per the Richmond Police Department post. As of the time of transport, the victim was listed in stable condition.
In the wake of the violence, it has been noted that more than 50 people were presumed to be present when the incident occurred, yet no witnesses have come forward. The Richmond PD has made an appeal to the public for anyone with details regarding the shooting to come forward and provide information. The neighborhood was significantly impacted, with multiple vehicles and buildings being struck by gunfire during the event.
According to the Richmond Police Department post, Chief Kyle Weatherly was quoted as saying, “Silence protects no one. When bullets fly into homes and cars, it endangers loved ones who have nothing to do with the dispute. Choosing not to come forward allows violence to continue unchecked. If you care about your community, now is the time to speak up.”
