San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has filed charges against 42-year-old Daniel Patrick Rodriguez Jr. in connection with a stabbing that took place last Wednesday, resulting in a man's death. According to a press release from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Rodriguez is facing one count of murder and one count of child endangerment. The DA's office also alleges that Rodriguez intentionally used a deadly weapon during the commission of the murder.
The incident, which took place at the intersection of Junipero Serra and Ocean Avenue, occurred at approximately 4:43 PM. Court documents suggest multiple witnesses saw Rodriguez and the victim in a physical altercation before Rodriguez allegedly circumvented a bystander trying to intervene and fatally stabbed the victim in the neck. The victim's eight-year-old son was reportedly present during the incident. Rodriguez was arrested last Friday in Tuolumne County.
The San Francisco Police Department promptly responded to the scene following the report. Despite emergency crews' efforts to save the victim, he later died of his injuries at a local hospital. In a collaborative effort that included various SFPD units, Rodriguez was apprehended in Tuolumne County. Hoodline reports that Interim Police Chief Paul Yep commented on the tragedy, stating, "My heart goes out to the victim and his family in this horrific incident," and assured, "We will not rest until this suspect is in custody."
