A Washington County School District bus driver has been arrested on allegations of possessing child sex abuse materials. Daniel Workman, the driver in question, faces 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a charge that arises out of a troubling investigation led by the St. George Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) team.
The inquiry began following a cyber tip from the Utah Attorney General's Office. KUTV reported that on Wednesday morning, officials executed a search warrant at Workman's residence. It was here, at approximately 10:20 a.m., that officers began to uncover the disturbing evidence leading to Workman's arrest. Additional investigations had linked Workman to the gruesome images, per details shared by the St. George PD.
Upon searching Workman’s home, officers found multiple electronic devices, including one that reportedly matched the serial number associated with the suspected account from the CyberTipline reports, according to KSL. Authorities state that further analysis of the recovered devices is pending, as they continue their thorough search for additional evidence.
After his arrest, the Washington County School District took prompt action, terminating Workman’s employment. "The department said the school district had been informed of Workman’s arrest," KSLTV conveyed in an article on the arrest. Their statement reflects the district's decision to sever ties with the employee in light of these serious accusations. The community awaits further developments as the legal process unfolds.
