
Schools in Starke County will receive more than $156,000 in state funding through the Secured School Safety Grant Program. The grants are part of a statewide initiative providing $27 million in matching funds to 494 schools to support safety improvements.
As per the Indiana House Republicans release, the funds can be used for a variety of safety measures, including updating warning systems, establishing emergency plans, supporting school resource officers, purchasing equipment and technology, conducting threat assessments, and enhancing student-parent support services. Local recipients include Knox Community School Corp. ($28,201), North Judson-San Pierre School Corp. ($46,250), Oregon-Davis School Corp. ($64,750), and Saint Peter Lutheran School - North Judson ($17,563).
Since the program began in 2014, Indiana has invested over $187 million in school safety through state matching grants. Additional information about the Secured School Safety Grant Program is available at Indiana’s school safety hub at in.gov/schoolsafety.
