
Sullivan County schools will receive over $231,000 through Indiana’s Secured School Safety Grant Program to improve school security. The program, part of a $27 million statewide allocation to 494 schools this year, supports safety measures such as resource officers, technology upgrades, and student and parent support programs.
As per the Indiana House Republicans release, State Rep. Bruce Borders highlighted the legislature’s focus on school safety and the recent move to place the Office of School Safety under the Department of Homeland Security to streamline resources.
Local recipients include Dugger Union Community School Corp. with $46,250, Northeast School Corp. with $92,335, and Southwest School Corp. with $92,500. Since 2013, Indiana has invested over $214 million in school safety through these grants. More information is available at in.gov/schoolsafety.
