Three fatalities have resulted from a shooting incident yesterday on Indianapolis' northwest side, local police reported. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) attended to a call after 11:40 p.m. in the 4500 block of Guion Road. Upon their arrival, one victim was found outdoors while two others were discovered within a vehicle, as FOX59 details.
Tragically, first responders declared two individuals deceased at the location of the shooting yes the third succumbed to their injuries soon after being transported to a nearby hospital. An initial report of a fourth victim surfacing at Eskenazi Hospital later turned out to be unrelated – a case of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound, "At this time, there are only three confirmed victims in this shooting – not four," IMPD clarified in a statement reported by FOX59.
The deadly incident reportedly sprang from a disturbance involving two groups. As covered by WTHR, the now ongoing investigation is still piecing together the events that led up to the violence. Bullet impacts were noted on at least one residence in the neighborhood, though no additional injuries inside those homes were reported.
Officers at the scene commented to News 8, that two victims had been discovered inside the car, and a vehicle showcasing numerous bullet holes was towed away from the site.
