The Westfield Police Department in Indiana recently completed the second week of its 2025 Citizens Academy, a program designed to give residents insight into police operations and build community relations.
According to the Westfield Police Department's Facebook post, prticipants were divided into two groups for hands-on activities. One group focused on traffic stops, learning the procedures and conducting mock stops. The other group used visual impairment goggles to explore impaired driving investigations and understand the effects of intoxicants on motorists.
The program aims to increase transparency and awareness of policing duties. Participants reportedly gained a better understanding of law enforcement work. The department plans to continue the program with a third week of activities.
