A construction worker, who fell from an extension ladder while on the roof of a building under construction, spurred a rope rescue operation by Brownsburg Fire Territory (BFT) yesterday afternoon. The BFT reported the incident occurred around 4:00 PM, with emergency crews quickly responding to the scene.
Upon their arrival, BFT personnel encountered the injured worker on the roof, necessitating a complex rescue operation. Dependent on a stokes basket, this method is designed to minimize movement for the patient, ensuring a secure and gentle descent. BFT's statement highlighted that such incidents are uncommon, but training for the unpredictable is a constant for the rescue crews, prepared they were for this type of call.
The rescue was executed without complications, allowing for the successful transfer of the patient from the rooftop to an ambulance cot. The unnamed worker was then transported by paramedics to the nearest medical facility to receive further treatment. The nature of the worker's injuries has not been disclosed.
