A scheme in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood that started with a conversation at a liquor store and ended with a man being drugged and robbed, has led to the arrest of a Dania Beach woman. Hugana Davis, 49, is facing charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft, and an organized scheme to defraud, after an incident on March 30 that ended with a man losing thousands of dollars in cash and valuables. The arrest was reported by Local 10.

The incident unfolded after Davis and her accomplice, whom the police are still searching for, met the unnamed victim outside a liquor store. They then accompanied him to his apartment, where what began as a social drink led to the victim being drugged and robbed. The Miami Police Department stated, "The women accompanied him to his apartment, where investigators allege they mixed him a drink and distracted him" in the arrest report. The victim, later on, fell into a deep sleep, reporting to have lost consciousness after Davis encouraged him to drink more, with the flattery and promises of a massage. The following morning, his iPhone, Rolex watch, and spare car keys were missing, and he discovered an unauthorized $3,000 transfer from his account via Zelle, as detailed by WSVN.

Davis was eventually identified as one of the suspects in a photo lineup and was arrested on Monday in Miami Gardens. According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department obtained by Local 10, "The victim identified Davis as one of the suspects in a photo lineup on April 15, but she wasn't located by police until Tuesday." She is now being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond and has been ordered to stay away from the victim once the bond is posted.

Miami Police are currently searching for the second suspect and are requesting anyone with information to come forward. The scheme seems to match a pattern where women target men wearing expensive jewelry, approach them under pretenses of flirtation or companionship, and then proceed to incapacitate them for theft. "Investigators said the scheme matches a pattern in which women target men wearing expensive jewelry, accompany them home under false pretenses, and then drug them before stealing valuables," this information was disclosed according to a WSVN report. Community members with any knowledge about the second woman's identity or whereabouts are urged to contact the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
