In a culmination of a month-long undercover investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department's Vice and Narcotics Division, 30-year-old Alexis Springer was arrested on charges of narcotics dealing, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department's official reports. Springer, who is listed as being currently enrolled in Allen County Drug Court, was caught selling roughly ten grams of fentanyl to an undercover detective.
During the arrest, additional illicit substances were found, leading to Springer facing a slew of preliminary charges. Stated in the official press release, included in the possession were about 18.1 grams of methamphetamine, 3.9 grams of fentanyl, and 1.6 grams of cocaine. Efforts made by the authorities to combat the opioid crisis in the community, which found Alexis tied to this investigation, highlight an ongoing battle.
The preliminary charges slapped on Springer are severe and numerous. They comprise dealing in cocaine or narcotic drug (Level 2, dealing five grams or more within 90 days); three counts of the same charge at Level 4; five counts of the same charge at Level 5; possession of methamphetamine (Level 6); and possession of cocaine or narcotic drug with two counts at Level 6.
