Indiana firefighters will have expanded access to regional training facilities designed to enhance their lifesaving skills. State Rep. J.D. Prescott, Gov. Mike Braun, and State Sen. Scott Alexander visited the new hub of the Indiana Fire and Public Safety Academy in Hartford City to review the progress. In a press release, Prescott acknowledged the work of local firefighters and staff and highlighted the importance of accessible training opportunities.
During the tour, officials observed live fire demonstrations, which simulate the challenges firefighters encounter in the field. State Rep. J.D. Prescott commented on meeting local firefighters while visiting the training site and noted that facilities like the Hartford City hub improve access to resources for rural departments. The initiative is designed to provide training and skill development opportunities closer to local fire departments.
The initiative provides expanded training opportunities for Indiana firefighters, especially those from rural areas who previously had to travel long distances for such instruction. The Hartford City hub is one of several sites planned to increase training accessibility across the state.
Prescott’s visit highlighted the coordination between state and local agencies to ensure Indiana’s first responders are equipped with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively perform their duties. In a press release, he stated that "these locations provide accessibility to necessary resources for our rural departments."
