It's that time again when Indiana's Statehouse opens its doors to a new batch of eager minds; Reps. Ethan Manning (R-Logansport) and Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) announced the commencement of the application process for internships during the 2026 legislative session for the Indiana House Republicans, a golden chance for students to peek behind the legislative curtain.
The program offers full-time, paid internships to those still grappling with the academic sphere – current college attendees, determined recent grads, and the stalwarts in graduate and law schools, according to a release on the Indiana House Republicans website—it’s the kind of opportunity that marries theory with practice, with Manning expressing, "this is a valuable opportunity to build relationships and get exposure to state government."
The stint, which spans from January to March, immerses interns in the throes of legislative operations, hands-on policy-making, and the nuts and bolts of communications, stuck right in the throbbing heart of downtown Indianapolis, Manning continued, while VanNatter emphasized the pivotal chance to network with seasoned professionals across various spheres and obtain an intimate understanding of the gears of state government.
