Indiana legislators are supporting the educational goals of women in the state. The POWER Caucus, recognized for its bipartisan work to promote women’s education and career opportunities, has opened applications for its annual scholarship. The program is specifically designed for women over the age of 25 who are returning to higher education to complete degrees they may have previously paused.
State Rep. Peggy Mayfield of Martinsville, a member of the POWER Caucus, is supporting this year’s $1,000 scholarship and encouraging eligible candidates to apply. According to the Indiana House Republicans, Mayfield noted that many women pause their education to raise families or focus on their careers.
Applications for the scholarship are available on the POWER Caucus website. Eligible candidates must either be currently enrolled at an Indiana college or university or provide proof of recent acceptance. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Nov. 7.
