State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) joined state and national leaders at the Indiana Statehouse for a briefing focused on strengthening Indiana’s role in immigration policy. The event, titled Fairness for Hoosiers: The Need for State Action on Immigration, included Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, Governor Mike Braun, and national security experts Tom Homan and Chad Wolf, according to Indiana House Republicans. Discussions centered on improving coordination among government agencies to enhance public safety and immigration enforcement.
Prescott co-authored House Enrolled Act 1393 earlier this year, a measure designed to increase cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. He also introduced House Bill 1531, which would require local compliance with federal immigration detainer requests. Although the bill did not advance, Prescott identified it as a continued legislative priority, emphasizing fair and consistent enforcement that supports law enforcement efforts.
Prescott said he will continue working with Attorney General Rokita, Governor Braun, and other officials to advance policies aimed at protecting Indiana residents and strengthening state participation in immigration-related initiatives.
