If you're living in Indianapolis or just passing through, the city's weather forecast could be a critical touchstone for how your days might unfold—according to the latest scoop from the National Weather Service (NWS), Indianapolis residents are in for a treat with an extended spell of sunshine that's slated to bless the city with highs steadily climbing the upper 80s; this rosy outlook begins today with a cheerful high near 86 under a clear sunny sky, condensing into a mostly clear evening with a temperate low around 62 degrees.
The uninterrupted sunlight persists through the weekend—tomorrow heralds a high near 87 with the gentlest of southern breezes that by evening shifts ever so slightly, dialing back the temperature to a low around 60 degrees; Sunday sings a similar tune with another round of clear skies and an amiable high near 86, though expect the southern wind to pick up a bit, rustling up speeds between 5 to 8 mph by morning.
It's not until Monday night that the NWS anticipates a change in this pattern, with a 30 percent chance of rain showers and thunderstorms lurking mainly after 2 am, as partly cloudy conditions cozy up to the city with a low around 64 degrees.
And indeed, the idyll will fray somewhat come Tuesday, where chances of rain and storms ebb upwards to a 50 percent likelihood, adding some variety to the skies which will now be partly sunny and tug down the high to near 82 degrees; the wind, however, remains light and variable at the outset, gravitating to a more westerly direction at 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Tuesday night promises dwindling rain chances and cloud cover that will together usher in a low near 55 degrees, according to the NWS.
Awaiting the city on Wednesday is a sunny reprieve with a comfortable high predicted around 70, which paves the way for a mostly clear night and a low slipping down to about 46 degrees; and if continuity is any consolation, Thursday is also slated to sustain sunny skies, rounding off the high near 70, signaling a return to the clear, crisp conditions that the week initially promised.
