A man died after a shooting on the 4700 block of Kentucky Avenue in Indianapolis on Saturday. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, who were patrolling near Interstate 465, responded to reports of gunfire around 6:50 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound in a parking lot, as reported by WTHR.
He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death. Shell casings were found at the scene, and several people were detained but later released as the investigation continues, according to FOX59.
A shooting occurred at a Marathon gas station near the Indianapolis International Airport. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said several “persons of interest” were briefly detained, but their involvement has not been confirmed, and no arrests have been made, as per WISH-TV. IMPD Public Information Officer Drew Brown stated, “Historically, as we’ve seen the summer months come to a close, violence tends to take a downturn. But this is a beautiful Saturday. What was a beautiful Saturday has been interrupted by gunfire,” as mentioned by FOX59.
