Tragedy struck on Indy’s northwest side Saturday night as a man was found deceased after an apparent vehicle-pedestrian incident. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the situation, having responded to a call at the intersection of Cooper Road and Michigan Road just before the stroke of midnight. FOX59 reported that upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered an adult male lying in the road, later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, additional information from WISH-TV indicates that the IMPD officers were dispatched to the area around 11:55 p.m. for a possible pedestrian involved incident, near the vicinity just south of West 71st Street and Westlane Road. The circumstances of the event remain unclear, as authorities work to piece together what transpired on that fateful segment of asphalt.
Adding to the ambiguity, IMPD Capt. Shane Foley made a statement, which WTHR obtained, saying, "There were no vehicles on scene that were involved." Foley continued, indicating that while it's possible this was a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian, they have "not been determined at this time." The lack of immediate evidence points to a complex puzzle that crash investigations detectives are currently piecing together.
