After months of investigation, the remains found inside a trash bag on a roadside near Brigham City have been identified, as the Brigham City Police detailed the painstaking process that led to the breakthrough. According to FOX13, the discovery was first made by a Union Pacific crew on April 2, near 2600 West Highway 13, finding hair and bones in a black trash bag, which were later confirmed to be human.
While an initial public appeal using a unique tattoo on the woman's body did not yield the needed results, Brigham City Police eventually achieved identification through DNA analysis, as detailed in a statement reported by KSL, the remains were matched with a profile in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), revealing the victim as Brandy M. Hickey, although officials did not provide additional information.
The police efforts uncovered that Hickey had been living in the St. George area and had connections to Salt Lake City, but she had not been in contact with anyone since 2021, according to KUTV. Detectives have made contact with Hickey's family to deliver the harrowing news and have since been reaching out to some of Hickey's associates to gather further details about her past whereabouts and connections.
Authorities are now encouraging anyone with information about Brandy M. Hickey or who may have had contact with her in the past few years to step forward and assist in the ongoing investigation, with contact information provided by the Brigham City Police Department for anyone wishing to provide relevant information or insights into Hickey's life and tragic end. "Anyone who knew Hickey or had contact with her over the last few years has been asked to contact police," according to KUTV, a request made public through the official statement.
