A man from California has been taken into custody on multiple felony charges after allegedly traveling to Indiana to assault a 12-year-old girl. Kevin Dominguez, 26, of Sacramento, is being held in the Grant County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond. He faces several charges, including child molesting, child exploitation, strangulation, and battery, as per FOX59.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified last Friday about an unknown man inside a residence with children. The investigation found that Kevin Dominguez had been communicating online with the underage girl for several months before traveling from California to the Fort Wayne area, where he stayed at a hotel. As reported by WISH-TV, no formal case had been filed for Dominguez online as of last night.
The girl’s father intervened upon discovering the situation by communicating directly with Kevin Dominguez, which assisted deputies in taking him into custody without incident, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office stated.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with both Grant and Delaware County officials involved, and no further details have been provided. If convicted on all level 3 felony charges, Kevin Dominguez could face a total prison sentence of up to 48 years.
