A tragic incident unfolded in Sandy as a robbery escalated to fatal violence. A 40-year-old man was shot and later died from his injuries following what began as an armed robbery on Monday evening. According to ABC4, the Sandy Police Department reported that the altercation took place around 8:22 p.m. near 8720 S 90 E, close to Main Street Park. The attempted robbery devolved into an argument and a subsequent shooting.
As obtained by KUTV, Sgt. Michael Olsen of the Sandy PD indicated that the incident does not pose an ongoing threat to the public, suggesting a possible acquaintance between the victim and the shooter. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was immediately transported to Intermountain Medical Center in "very critical condition" but later succumbed to his injuries.
