Several smoke shops in Broward County were struck by a series of smash-and-grab burglaries early today, prompting police investigations into the incidents. The break-ins occurred within a short time frame, leaving stores with extensive damage and significant losses.
According to NBC Miami, one burglary took place at a store on Royal Palm Boulevard in Margate, where thieves shattered the front window and stole approximately $15,000 worth of products. Officers reported that the robbery was completed in about 30 seconds.
Another incident was reported at Vapor Shark, a vape shop on West Sample Road located within three miles of the first crime scene, WSVN reported.
The Sky World Smoke Shop also sustained damage, with its window completely broken. The value of the stolen items from that location remains undisclosed. Business owners are now reinforcing their stores and considering additional security measures.
Authorities are investigating whether the burglaries are connected. Anyone with information is urged to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Anonymous tips leading to an arrest and conviction may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
