
The Speedway Fire Department recently announced the retirement of Engineer Jeff Thornton after 30 years of service. According to a social media post by the department, Thornton was skilled in his role and regularly assisted colleagues wherever needed throughout his career.
Jeff Thornton is a second-generation member of the Speedway Fire Department, following in the footsteps of his father, Jim Thornton. The department noted his proficiency and stated that filling his role will be challenging due to his long-term experience and expertise.
The Speedway Fire Department will host an Open House on November 14 at Station 88 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event will honor Thornton’s career and allow the community to acknowledge his years of service. The Open House is open to the public and will include refreshments.
