On Wednesday morning, a domestic incident in Sandy prompted a security response at two nearby schools. Albion Middle School and Quail Hollow Elementary were placed into Secure Status, although that status has since been lifted. The Sandy Police Department confirmed that the suspect related to these events is still on the loose, as reported by FOX 13.

The situation initially developed near 1800 East and Fall View Drive at about 7:15 a.m. when a man, during a confrontation, used his vehicle to ram another. Having eluded authorities, the man abandoned his damaged car and fled on foot in the vicinity of the two schools, causing them to enforce safety protocols. Sgt. Michael Olsen with the Sandy Police Department conveyed to KSLTV that this prompted the secure status of the educational facilities.

Despite the alarming nature of the event, officials stressed there was no intent evident that the suspect aimed to enter either of the schools. "We had no indication that he was going toward or wanted to enter a school, but out of an abundance of caution, both of those schools were placed on a 'secure' status," Sgt. Moffitt explained, affirming the actions as precautionary, as KUTV reports. He also described the confrontation as "an isolated incident by two people who know each other" and not as a risk to the wider public.
