A serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of US 41 and Howard Wayne Dr left two drivers hospitalized on October 24, according to the Vigo County Sheriff's Office. The incident, which involved a black Hyundai SUV and a gold GMC SUV, occurred at approximately 1:56pm.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the Hyundai was heading north on US 41 when the GMC tried to cross the northbound lanes, aiming to turn east onto Howard Wayne Dr. The GMC's maneuver resulted in a collision with the Hyundai, sending the GMC off the road and into a ditch. The driver of the GMC was ejected from the vehicle and was subsequently airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital, according to the Vigo County Sheriff's social media post.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Details on the condition of the drivers have not been disclosed, and the extent of injuries suffered by the ejected GMC driver was unknown at the time of the report.
The Vigo County Sheriff's Office, led by Chief Deputy Steve Meng, confirmed that the crash is still under investigation.
