The Wilson County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee has issued a call to the public, seeking assistance in an ongoing animal cruelty investigation. A small black dog was discovered in significant distress on Oak Grove Road on September 18, according to a social media post from the Sheriff's Office. Upon arriving at the scene, Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) found the animal with a severely injured front right leg, adorned with a blue collar. The dog was quickly transported to a local veterinarian for treatment.
Following the examination, it was revealed by the veterinarian's x-rays that the dog had sustained injuries from gunfire, with bullet fragments identified within its leg. "The dog had been shot twice, once grazing the spine and another striking the front right leg at the elbow, causing it to shatter," detailed the original post from the Sheriff's Office. The injuries were severe, prompting an urgent call for justice and the apprehension of the individual(s) responsible for the cruelty inflicted upon the animal.
In an effort to expedite the investigation, the Sheriff's Office is offering a reward for valuable information. "A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of those involved," the Sheriff's Office stated in the Facebook announcement. They encourage anyone with information to come forward to aid in the case, potentially bringing the perpetrator to justice and ensuring the safety of other animals in the community.
Those with any knowledge pertaining to the case are urged to contact Detective Sergeant Donnell. He can be reached at 615-444-1412 extension 252. Alternatively, information can be sent to [email protected], as mentioned by the Wilson County Sheriff's Office. The community's cooperation is pivotal, with the hope that such acts of cruelty can be addressed, rightfully punishing those who commit such inhumane crimes against defenseless creatures.
