
An investigation is ongoing after 51-year-old Brandi Michelle Dalton was killed in a crash on the south side of Indianapolis, reported by Fox 59. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrived at the 8100 block of Shelby Street early Sunday morning, responding to a call concerning a personal injury accident involving a pedestrian Fox 59.
Dalton was found to have been struck by a motorist, and although she was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, she was pronounced dead upon arrival, the incident was subsequently confirmed by the Marion County Coroner's Office and as WTHR reports, the suspected vehicle was heading southbound on Shelby Street when the accident occurred, later a second vehicle collided with the one that struck Dalton and that driver fled the scene WTHR.
According to WRTV, the driver who hit Dalton remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities; IMPD-certified accident investigators have taken over to thoroughly examine the crash site and the surrounding circumstances that led to this tragic incident, working towards piecing together the sequence of events that culminated in the pedestrian's untimely death and the escape of the second involved motorist WRTV.
The search for additional information by IMPD crash investigators is still active, with the second vehicle – which fled after impacting the car that hit Dalton – being a point of intense inquiry and anyone with knowledge of the crash is encouraged to reach out to the authorities, in the aftermath of this incident, the community finds itself grappling with the sudden loss of one of their own yet again and a stark reminder of the fragility of life on our city streets, demonstrating the imperative need for both vigilance and empathy amongst those behind the wheel Fox 59.
