An Amber Alert issued for an abducted Utah teenager has been called off after the successful intervention of Colorado law enforcement, according to a Facebook post by the Ogden Police Department. The alert was initially issued when 13-year-old Jessika Francisco was reported missing around 2 p.m. yesterday, and carefully gathered details pointed toward 33-year-old Christopher Thomas Wiggins as the suspect.
With much at stake, the operation yielded results nearly five hours later, when, held by the Larimer County Sheriff's Deputies in Colorado, Wiggins was located and captured, having Jessika with him. Relieved, the family of Jessika was notified, and victim services at both local and federal levels are being arranged to offer her the necessary support in Fort Collins, Colorado.
As the case progresses into its investigatory phase, the Ogden Police Major Crimes Bureau is collaborating with various law enforcement agencies and federal entities. While the precise charges Wiggins will face remain undetermined at this juncture, officials are committed to forging ahead with the legal process.
In a statement obtained by the Ogden Police Department, Chief Jake Sube expressed both gratitude and determination: "When incidents like this occur, the Ogden Police Department will relentlessly pursue those who threaten the safety of our residents, especially our children. Our officers will leverage every available tool and resource to track down offenders and bring them to justice." Sube also emphasized the critical role the community played in rapidly disseminating information that ultimately led to the resolution of the case.
