The City of Carmel is set to honor the sacrifices of veterans and military families with its upcoming Veterans Day Ceremony titled "Families of the Brave," providing an opportunity for community members to show appreciation for those who've served our nation, as reported by the city's November 4th media advisory. This event, commemorating the valor and commitment of our military personnel, is scheduled to take place at The Tarkington Theater at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, located at 3 Carter Green.
The ceremony, slated for Friday from noon to 1 p.m., invites the public, veterans, and military families to engage with various participants including local City officials, American Legion Carmel Post 155 Honor Guard, and U.S. Congressman Jim Baird; Carmel Clay Schools students Ethan Kline, Ava Rothchild, and Diego Rowley will also participate, along with Carmel VFW Post 10003 Honor Guard and several others embodying the community's support and respect for its heroes. As part of the proceedings, the city will showcase the talents of its youth, featuring stunning artworks from the city-wide Veterans Day poster contest and the deeply thoughtful essays penned by the student winners, as per details from the city's bulletin.
Further enhancing the solemnity of the occasion will be the presence of honored guests and prominent city figures, such as Artist Development Company's Blair Clark, Reverend George Davis who serves as the Carmel Police Chaplain and is celebrated as a U.S. Army Veteran, Mayor Sue Finkam, and Dr. Tim Hannon, who has proudly retired as a U.S. Navy Captain. Ashley Nicole will grace the event with a performance and Dr. Thomas Oestreich, Superintendent of Carmel Clay Schools, is expected to attend this tribute to the community's military affiliates.
