The City of Carmel has kicked off its 2025 holiday season, offering a plethora of events and attractions to celebrate the festive mood. Carmel is known for transforming into a winter wonderland, where residents and visitors can indulge in holiday festivities reminiscent of a classic holiday postcard. The city boasts the return of its signature attractions, including the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, The Ice at Carter Green, and the Holidays in Carmel Kick-Off event, which includes a tree lighting ceremony next Saturday, as noted in a news release from the city.
Starting next Saturday and going through December 24, the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, heralded as the nation's best, is the epicenter of holiday cheer with authentic German Christmas market vibes. Ice skating enthusiasts should be prepared to glide beneath the city hall's looming silhouette because the ice rink at Carter Green will welcome guests until February 1, 2026. Additional details can be found at the market and ice rink's respective official websites.
An exciting addition to this year's lineup is the International Winter Festival, set for December 12 from 7 to 8 p.m., where attendees can enjoy a colorful display of winter traditions from around the globe, thanks to Carmel's Sister Cities.
But Carmel's holiday offerings aren't limited to events. Carmel invites support for its local business through the Shop Small Shop Carmel event on Small Business Saturday, taking place Nov. 29, where unique gifts can be found across the city's distinct districts. Shoppers can conveniently explore these districts aboard the Holiday Trolley, connecting Main Street, Carter Green, Midtown, and City Center, offering free rides. Santa Claus himself will be making rounds through Carmel's neighborhoods, spreading joy and festive cheer, in tours that families eagerly track annually.
To stay informed on all holiday happenings, the city encourages residents and visitors to follow the Holidays in Carmel website for the most current information.
