Commuters in Greenwood experienced delays yesterday as northbound US 31 was temporarily closed. The Greenwood Fire Department reported on social media post that traffic was blocked at Greenwood Trace Drive, between Worthsville Road and Tracy Road, due to an ongoing police investigation.
In their Facebook post, they stated: "Greenwood Travelers: US31 Northbound is blocked at Greenwood Trace Drive due to a police investigation. (Between Worthsville Rd & Tracy Rd) Traffic is heavily backed up & passing on the shoulder. Seek an alternate route!"
The police did not share the reason for the activity and advised drivers to use alternate routes, as traffic was heavy and vehicles were moving along the shoulder.
