As Veterans Day approaches, Indianapolis braces for what looks like a crisp but active weather week ahead. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis reports partly cloudy conditions with the mercury sitting at 22°F early in the morning. However, locals can expect temperatures to climb up to a moderate high near 43 later in the day. The Southwest wind won't be shy either, gusting as high as 29 mph, adding a bit of a bite to the air. NWS forecasts also indicate a partly cloudy night ahead with lows hovering around 34 and continued gusts up to 25 mph.
Wednesday promises a break from the clouds with sunny skies and a high near 53, while the wind maintains its presence from the West. Not one to let up, gusts could ramp up to 24 mph. As the workweek continues, Thursday offers respite with mostly sunny conditions and a calmer wind, translating into a comfortable high around 56 degrees. The NWS suggests the trend of partly cloudy nights will persist, with the Thursday night thermometer dropping towards 39 degrees under South Southwest winds of 3 to 5 mph.
Falling into the weekend, Indianapolis residents will see temperatures flirting with the 60s. Friday's forecast boasts mostly sunny skies and a high near 61, courtesy of a gentle South wind. Even the night won't dip too severely, with a predicted low around 48 degrees and a Southeastern breeze. As Saturday ushers in its partly sunny disposition, thermometers may reach up to 68 degrees, setting the stage for a mild weekend vibe.
However, Indianapolis shouldn't get too comfortable with the dry weather. Saturday night rolls out a 20 percent chance of rain after 1 am, cloud cover, and lows of 54 degrees. The possibility of precipitation lingers into Sunday, climbing to a 40 percent chance of rain during the day and scaling back slightly to 30 percent Sunday night, with lows around 42. This unsettled pattern takes us into the new week, as Monday also dances with a 30 percent chance of rain and highs near 55 degrees.
