As the chill of winter approaches, the City of Lawrence gears up for its festive season with the much-anticipated Winterfest—bringing together the community in a celebration of holiday spirit and joyous traditions. The Streets and Parks teams have been diligently preparing the grounds for this annual event, which promises an array of activities intended to enchant residents and visitors alike, as announced by the city's official news release.
The ceremonial commencement is slated for Saturday, from 3 PM to 7 PM, where attendees will gather at the Lawrence Civic Plaza, located at 5710 Lawrence Village Parkway. A beacon of community gatherings, the plaza will be illuminated by the lights of the Christmas tree, as well as by the warmth of neighbors coming together in celebration. Following the grand lighting, Winterfest will extend its cheer through January 4, featuring the Ice Skating Rink and the Hot Chocolate Chalet, which are set to be open every Saturday and Sunday within this period, at the same inviting hours of 3–7 PM, the city's news release detailed the schedule.
