
An early morning disturbance in Salt Lake City on Wednesday resulted in a shooting that wounded one man, per reports from the Salt Lake City Police Department. Sgt. Greg Wilkin from the department spoke with KSLTV, indicating the shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. on Paramount Avenue, near 300 West. The police are now actively trying to identify the suspect who fled the scene.
While the search for the suspect continues, authorities are working to ascertain the events leading up to the incident. According to KSLTV, traffic was affected due to road closures on 300 West, with expectations of delays throughout Wednesday morning's commute. Nonetheless, police believe this was an isolated event and assured there's no further threat to the public.
The victim, a man, sustained minor injuries to the torso and is now in stable condition. The details surrounding the altercation are still emerging as the investigation unfolds. ABC4 echoed the sentiments from local law enforcement, emphasizing the incident's isolated nature and confirming road closures at northbound 300 West for approximately one hour.
Residents and commuters were advised to seek alternative routes due to active road closures in the area of the investigation. Despite the suspect being at large, Salt Lake City Police don't suspect additional dangers to residents. "Although police have yet to arrest any suspects, they don't believe there is a danger to the general public," as shared by FOX 13 from an official statement.
