Residents in Morgan Park say incidents like this deepen already high safety concerns on the Far South Side. Hoodline previously covered another fatal shooting in the area in September under the headline 17-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot, reflecting ongoing unease in the community.
Investigation
Police said a gun was recovered at the scene and that Calumet Area detectives are handling the investigation. No one was in custody as of Thursday morning, authorities told CBS Chicago.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chicago Police Department through its tip form at the Chicago Police Department website or call Area Two detectives at (312) 747-8273, per ABC7 Chicago.
Detectives said the investigation remains active and that more details will be released as they are confirmed. The Cook County state's attorney's office would decide whether to file charges if an arrest is made, and for now the case remains under review.
