The Building Officials Association of Palm Beach County (BOAPBC) has been recognized with the 2025 International Code Council (ICC) Chapter Merit Award, an accolade that marks a first in the chapter's history. The ICC Chapter Merit Award is designed to honor chapters that consistently perform to advance building safety, endorse professional growth, and provide exceptional community service. According to a statement made by the Palm Beach County Planning, Zoning and Building Department (PZB), the Building Division expresses pride in its active membership and collaboration with the BOAPBC, as per the county's announcement.
In a formal presentation on Tuesday, County Commissioner Gregg K. Weiss was on site to hand over a Certificate of Commendation to the BOAPBC members, among whom included staff from PZB’s Building Division. "The Building Division is proud to play an active role in BOAPBC — whose current President, Joseph Anderson, serves as a Construction Services Associate within the Division. We are honored to celebrate this milestone alongside them," Melvin Corredor, the Palm Beach County Building Official, was reported to have said in the statement issued by the county's website.
The BOAPBC's efforts have consistently aimed to squarely promote building safety within the community, striving for innovation in their practices and driving forward community service initiatives.
"This award reflects the dedication and leadership of our local building officials, who work tirelessly to ensure safe and resilient construction throughout Palm Beach County," Whitney Carroll, Executive Director of PZB, was quoted as stating in the official announcement.
