Residents of Bloomington's District 6 are invited to directly connect with local leaders at the upcoming Traveling Town Hall. The event, set for Monday, December 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Monroe County History Center, will provide a platform for community members to engage with city officials. Mayor Kerry Thomson, Planning and Transportation Director David Hittle, and City Councilmember Sydney Zulich are expected to be in attendance, according to the city's announcement.
The evening is set to kick off with an update from Mayor Thomson, which will be followed by a focused discussion on local planning, transportation, and neighborhood priorities. Notably, there will be an opportunity to directly submit questions on provided index cards—a move to foster an organized dialogue between residents and city officials. "Traveling Town Halls offer residents the chance to connect directly with local leaders, ask questions, and learn more about City projects and initiatives," Bloomington's official statement noted.
Throughout the session, these submitted questions are to be addressed by the city leadership. Keeping the channels of communication open, if there's enough time after discussing the written questions, the floor will be opened for a live Q&A session, permitting residents to further voice their concerns and inquiries.
The importance of resident participation in these meetings can not be overstated, as the event aims to encourage locals from District 6 and beyond to share their perspectives and learn more about initiatives citywide. The meeting's broad access is further extended as it's set to broadcast live on Community Access Television Services (CATS), with an on-demand option also available at catstv.net.
