Starting today, applications are open for families who could use a helping hand this Christmas to join the officers for a festive shopping spree at the local Wal-mart. Details on how to apply are available on their Facebook page, with a December 1st deadline to ensure all lists are checked twice in time for the season.
Community members interested in participating are invited to pick up an application form from the city hall, located at 113 E. Washington St., the frigid November air shouldn't deter the warm-hearted efforts of those seeking support for their little ones this winter, the program has been embraced year after year building bridges between law enforcement and the community they serve warding off the cold with the warmth of giving. The applications must be returned to the police station no later than 5 PM on the first day of December as the post on their official Facebook states.
