The holiday spirit in Carmel faced a mildly Grinch-like disruption this season, but local police were quick to ensure that festivities could go on without a hitch. According to a social media post from the Carmel Police Department, an individual's attempt to 'steal Christmas' was foiled, complete with a colorful arrest involving a green individual in a lackluster Santa outfit.
In the detailed account, which Officer J. Morris provided, the would-be thief was caught stuffing a Christmas tree up a chimney. The assisting canine, Max, played a significant role in what the department described as a "10/10 arrest." Post-arrest, the suspect reportedly embraced the role of holiday villain, belting out "You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch" from the back of the police cruiser. Despite this peculiar incident, the department reassured the community that "Christmas is SAFE in Carmel!"
The whimsical incident led to an important update for Carmel residents looking forward to the seasonal Santa Tours. Originally scheduled for Sunday, December 14, rescheduling was likely a ripple effect of the aforementioned attempts to dampen holiday cheer.
Local enthusiasts of holiday traditions can breathe easily as they anticipate the continuation of Santa's rounds. The upcoming weekend marks the last opportunity to see Santa aboard the fire truck.
