Come the new year, the Castro will have a new combo bookstore, tea room, and wine bar.
The Love Potion Library will be opening at 284 Noe Street, formerly Jeffrey's Natural Pet Food Store. Jeffrey's closed in January after 25 years in the neighborhood.
A sign was recently posted on the storefront announcing the new business. "Consider this our meet-cute," writes owner Veena Patel.

Hoodline reached out to Patel for comment but did not receive a response.
On Instagram, Patel shared that she is hopeful to be open by Valentine's Day 2026.

"Signed a lease today for a spot in the Castro," wrote Patel on November 1. "Construction is happening, and we might be opening just in time for Valentine’s Day."

A liquor license application notice posted on the window indicates that Patel has applied for a new Type 42 beer and wine license.
Public records indicate a building permit was issued for the remodel, along with upgrading the bathroom to be ADA accessible. Construction costs are estimated at $40,000.
