
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis is warning residents across central Indiana of an active weather pattern marked by strong winds and periods of rain and snow in the coming days. A National Weather Service Wind Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Monday, with west winds expected between 20 and 30 mph and gusts reaching up to 50 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday conditions remain overcast, with temperatures near 57°F and humidity around 96 percent. Scattered rain showers and possible thunderstorms are expected tonight. Rainfall totals could reach up to half an inch in some areas, and strong wind gusts may cause difficult travel conditions and isolated power outages.
On Monday, windy conditions are expected to persist, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Temperatures will drop significantly Monday night, with lows near 17°F and a chance of flurries as colder air moves into the region.
Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with highs near 30°F. Additional snow showers are possible by Wednesday night, with precipitation chances around 40 percent. New Year’s Day is expected to be partly sunny, with calmer conditions before unsettled weather may return later in the week.
